In a bygone era in Bordeaux when a woman could not even open a bank account, a woman chose to defy the norm and started her own business.
The year was 1755 and her name was Marie Brizard. She was the daughter of a distiller, and through a collaboration with a gentleman named Jean-Baptiste Roger, who was a close friend of the family, Marie used her immense knowledge of mixing alcohol to create the legendary liqueur Anisette.
Now 260 years later, Marie Brizard’s liqueurs hold the same high quality as the French King Louis XV became acquainted with.
